Pro Strategies: A Screener With the Method Built In

A Pro Strategy screens a market universe for candidates and then runs a professional method's studies on each one automatically. Here is how a run works, and what the two live strategies actually check.

Here's the one-sentence definition: a Pro Strategy is a screener with the method built in.

A normal screener answers "which symbols match these filters?" and stops. What it hands you is a list — and the real work, the per-name studies a professional would run on each candidate before taking any of them seriously, is still ahead of you. A Pro Strategy doesn't stop at the list. It screens the universe, finds the candidates, and then runs the method's full study sequence on every one, automatically, and shows its work.

The anatomy of a run

Every Pro Strategy follows the same pipeline, whatever the method inside it:

1

Universe

Start from a market-wide universe — thousands of names, not a hand-picked shortlist. The premise of screening is that you don't know in advance where the setup is.

2

Criteria

Apply the method's screening criteria — the conditions that define "worth studying" for this particular strategy. This is where thousands of names become a handful.

3

Candidates

The survivors land in a candidate table, scored and comparable — so you can see not just who passed, but how each one passed relative to the others.

4

Studies

Now the part a screener never does: the method's per-name studies run on each candidate — the checks a practitioner of this method would perform by hand, executed automatically and displayed step by step.

5

Results

The run ends with the studied field: which candidates held up under the full method, which fell out and at which check, and everything MAX measured along the way — with the working shown, not just the conclusion.

An Earnings Run-Up strategy run: candidate table with moving-average stack checks and per-name study steps
An Earnings Run-Up run mid-flight: the candidate table with per-name quality checks, and the study steps running down each survivor.

Running one: it starts in the chat box

There's no separate console to learn. Pro Strategies run from the chat home box, the same place everything else in Market Agent X starts. Ask for the strategy and MAX executes the stored process — the universe, the criteria, and the studies are all encoded in the strategy itself, so the run is the method, every time, without you re-specifying it.

Two ways to point it:

Market-wide
"Run Earnings Run-Up"
Screens the whole universe for candidates
Use it when you want the method to find the names
Single ticker
"Run Earnings Run-Up on TDY"
Skips the screen, runs the full study sequence on one name
Use it when you have a candidate and want the method's read

The two live strategies

Earnings Run-Up

Built on a well-documented pattern: some names have historically tended to firm up in the weeks heading into their earnings report. The strategy screens for names entering those historically strong pre-earnings windows, then studies each candidate the way a practitioner would: it grades the moving-average stack for trend quality (a name drifting into earnings in a clean uptrend is a different proposition from one limping in below every average), confirms the earnings date and checks the options expiries that bracket it, measures the expected move the options market is pricing for the event, and surfaces candidate structures for expressing the setup — which you can carry into Options Pro to build properly.

Golden Pullback

The complementary method: instead of event timing, it hunts for market leaders pulling back to structure. The screen finds strong names in retreat — leadership that's dipped rather than broken — and the studies then interrogate each one: is the larger trend intact beneath the pullback, has price come into a level that historically matters, and does the name still hold its leadership credentials relative to the field? The premise is old and durable — strength that pulls back to support is one of the most-studied setups in technical trading — and the strategy runs its checks with the same rigor every time.

What makes this different from filters

The criteria are the smaller half of each strategy. Any screener can find "stocks with earnings in three weeks." The value is in the studies — the MA-stack grading, the expected-move measurement, the trend-and-level interrogation — running uniformly on every candidate. That's the practitioner's checklist executed without the practitioner's fatigue, and without the selective attention that creeps in when you run checks by hand on name #14 of 20.

Honest limitations

A Pro Strategy finds and studies candidates; it doesn't tell you what to do with them. "Historically strong window" is a tendency across past cycles, not a schedule the market has agreed to keep — plenty of studied candidates will do nothing, and some runs will end with a thin field, which is itself an honest result. The output is research: a small, rigorously examined set of names, with the evidence attached, for you to judge.

Where it fits

Pro Strategies sit between the screener and the Pro Surfaces in the workspace's research loop. The screener is free-form — your filters, your states, any question. A Pro Strategy is opinionated — a specific method, encoded, repeatable. And when a run surfaces a name worth deeper work, the surfaces are next: an Earnings Run-Up candidate's structures carry into Options Pro; a Golden Pullback level is a natural study for Fibonacci Pro, and a natural condition for a monitor. Screen, study, structure, monitor — with the middle two steps now running themselves.
